Dupuytren’s Contracture and Ledderhose Disease

A benign growth of fibrous tissue in the tendons of the hand or soles of the feet. Radiation therapy can be used with high success to relieve contractures and decrease pain. Success rates of almost 90% are reported in the literature with as few as ten treatments split out over the course of about 2-3 months. With minimal to no side effects, patients are encouraged to seek this type of therapy before contractures have become advanced and before surgical intervention, as this increases the chance of cure. It can also be used in cases where radiation has failed treatment.
